چکیده

Double emulsion droplets generation is convenient for drug delivery applications since the core-shell template has ability to increase success of target and release drug. In this study, modified flow-focusing microfluidics device proposed generate double with high monodispersity throughput, satisfying industrial needs. The W/O/W (water-in-oil-in-water) encapsulation a common combination in delivery. research aims analyze using 2D Volume Fluid (VoF) VoF approach, which able visualize flow regime, average diameter, Coefficient Variation (CoV), rate. Combination water-in-olive oil-in-water was used as working fluids. diameter droplets, CoV, rate obtained image processing. simulation results showed that injection model sudden expansion successfully produced two dripping instabilities. narrowing jetting regime obtained, including its evolution. both outer inner were achieved their droplet's generated can potentially be implemented delivery, although must further investigated. Nevertheless, control high-throughput droplets.

Preparation of monodisperse biodegradable polymer microparticles using a microfluidic flow-focusing device for controlled drug delivery.

Degradable microparticles have broad utility as vehicles for drug delivery and form the basis of several therapies approved by the US Food and Drug Administration. Conventional emulsion-based methods of manufacturing produce particles with a wide range of diameters (and thus kinetics of release) in each batch. This paper describes the fabrication of monodisperse, drug-loaded microparticles from...

Numerical Investigation of Thermally Triggered Release Kinetics of Double Emulsion for Drug Delivery Using Phase Change Material

A numerical model has been developed to investigate the thermally triggered release kinetics for drug delivery using phase change material as shell of microcapsules. Biocompatible material n-Eicosane is used as demonstration. PCM shell of microcapsule will remain in solid form after the drug is taken, so the drug will be encapsulated by the shell, and will not be released until the target body ...

Structured Biodegradable Polymeric Microparticles for Drug Delivery Produced Using Flow Focusing Glass Microfluidic Devices.

Biodegradable poly(DL-lactic acid) (PLA) and poly(lactic-co-glycolic acid) (PLGA) microparticles with tunable size, shape, internal structure and surface morphology were produced by counter-current flow focusing in axisymmetric (3D) glass capillary devices. The dispersed phase was composed of 0.5-2 wt % polymer solution in a volatile organic solvent (ethyl acetate or dichloromethane) and the co...

Numerical Study of the Controlled Droplet Breakup by Electric Fields inside a Microfluidic Flow-focusing Device

Droplet-based microfluidics has received extensive research interests due to its superior control over the fluid flow. Conventional passive microfluidic flow-focusing devices confront difficulties in controlling droplet sizes in dripping regime especially when the dispersed phase has a large viscosity. External electric fields have been reported as an effective tool to manipulate droplet breaku...
